Deeper training insights: TrainingPeaks releases WKO4 analytical software

Training Peaks WKO4

TrainingPeaks has announced the latest release of its WKO analytical software. Available now for Mac users, the online coaching specialist noted that ‘WKO4 will change the way endurance coaches analyze and prescribe training.’

Rather than relying on generalized principles, WKO4 uses an athlete’s unique physiology to compare data from every training session. Going beyond reporting on just what happened with descriptive analytics, it ‘will give insights into why it happened with diagnostic analytics.’

In a blog post, Gear Fisher, CEO and co-founder of TrainingPeaks said, “Ultimately, we didn’t just build another tracking software, we built an incredibly comprehensive analytical engine, complete with its own language for graphing and analyzing data that will enable anyone to explore their fitness in ways never possible. Going forward, we’ll focus on making ‘actionable intelligence’ so you can tune your fitness and take action with specific guidance from WKO4.”

He continued, “We set out to re-define what scientific innovation and leadership really means, and I’m excited to finally have WKO4 join our market leading web and mobile apps in our world class ecosystem of products for endurance coaches and athletes.”

In WKO4, brand new analysis metrics such as Rider Phenotyping, Individualized Training Levels and the Power Duration Model have been created with the help of co-developers Hunter Allen, Andrew Coggan Ph.D., Tim Cusick and Kevin Williams.

“I am excited to be a part of the next evolution in training analysis,” said Hunter Allen. “WKO4 leads the way to deeper insights that allows both coaches and athletes to have a clear understanding of their training data. It provides coaches with actionable intelligence to prescribe more precise training.”

According to Training Peaks, WKO4 isn’t just software, it’s an analytical engine. Coaches will be able to create custom charts and formulas to review the data that is most important to them. Plus, through the new Chart Exchange, WKO4 users will have access to charts created by top endurance coaches that they can use with their athletes.

“Using the insights and knowledge learned in WKO4, coaches can prescribe the most accurate workouts for their athletes,” said Dirk Friel, President of TrainingPeaks. “WKO4 has changed the way I analyze my own training, which has allowed me to train more effectively.”

Currently on sale for Mac users, WKO4 for PC is coming soon and will be compatible with Windows 10.
