More than 6,500 triathletes from 62 countries are expected to compete next week in the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Chicago at Grant Park; and the elites, age-group athletes, paratriathletes, juniors and under-23 athletes will be supported by a raft of newly confirmed event partners.
In addition to the five sponsor partners returning to engage with the event, companies tying up with ITU World Triathlon Chicago also include: Element Multisport; Illinois Bone & Joint Institute; BOOM Nutrition; Herbalife; and Revolution Brewing.
Element Multisport will be on-site from 15-19 September as the Official Bike Mechanic Service of the ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Chicago. Element notes that it was created so that triathletes and cyclists of every level would have a place to get high-quality gear, expert advice and top-notch customer service.
Retail and online, Element offers triathlon bikes, road bikes, wetsuits, running shoes, aero wheels, triathlon apparel and triathlon accessories. Element will provide bike mechanic support for athletes competing in any of the 12 races held throughout the week.
Illinois Bone & Joint Institute (IBJI) is a leader in the Chicago area for orthopedic care and will serve as the official orthopedic and physical therapy provider for the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Chicago.
IBJI will be providing post-race massages in the recovery area (south of the finish line near South Rose Garden), as well as 30- and 60-minute massages (for a cost) in the Tri-Festival beginning on Tuesday 15 September. With 90 physicians and over 150 physical, occupational and massage therapists spread throughout 20 locations in Chicago and north/northwest Chicagoland, IBJI offers a complete range of advanced orthopedic care for people of all ages.
IBJI services include MRI, pain management, specialty care, rheumatology, surgery, rehabilitation and wellness. BOOM Nutrition’s Carb Boom! Energy Gels, the Official Energy Gel of USA Triathlon, will be the on-course energy gel at the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final Chicago. Carb Boom! Revolution Brewing is the Official Beer Partner for the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final. Revolution Brewing is Illinois’ largest craft brewery, producing about 50 different beer styles each year from its original brewpub in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood and from its production brewery in Avondale.
As part of the event, Revolution is sponsoring the beer garden at the Tri-Festival, a four-day festival held from 16-19 Septebmer. In addition to Revolution Brewing, the Tri-Festival will feature on-site Chicago restaurants, ‘an abundance of spectator-friendly entertainment and event programming and the Opening and Closing Ceremonies.’
The City of Chicago joined the ITU World Triathlon Series in 2014 and will host the 2015 ITU World Triathlon Grand Final and World Championships in September 2015. Chicago will welcome 150 of the world’s top Olympic-distance triathletes as they compete for a world championship title less than a year prior to the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games.
In addition to the elite races, the event features top-flight sprint and Olympic-distance races for age-group athletes, paratriathletes, juniors and under-23s, as well as an aquathlon to kick off the action. In all, more than 8,000 of the world’s best triathletes will compete for world titles over five days of competition.
The ITU World Triathlon Grand Final and World Championships are hosted by USA Triathlon, the National Governing Body for the sport of triathlon in the United States, and Lagardère Unlimited Events North America. Launched in 2009, the ITU World Triathlon Series is televised in more than 160 countries.
