Fitbit – the health and fitness tracker specialist – has released a new software update for Fitbit Surge, its ‘fitness super watch’. With the software update, new features are now available:
- Run Cues – assist runners in monitoring their training on the track, the treadmill or the road by providing automatic alerts when they have reached a predetermined time or distance during their run – allowing them to pace more effectively and helping users amplify and fine-tune their training and racing
- Extended GPS battery life – allows users to run, ride and hike longer while tracking their exercise, heart rate and routes with the confidence they’ll capture all their activity without having to recharge or loose a step. This is positioned as a key differentiator from the Apple Watch.
- A timer and a stopwatch has been added enabling performance users to further enhance their training by monitoring their progress in minutes, seconds and fractions of a second as they work toward their goals.
Since selling its first connected health and fitness device in September 2009, Fitbit sold over 25 million connected health and fitness devices through the second quarter of 2015. The company notes that it is continuing to invest in growing its global footprint.
Today, as a pioneer and leader in the market, Fitbit is aiming to remain true to its mission to help people lead healthier, more active lives by providing them with data, inspiration and guidance to reach their goals. By combining the power of technology with insights, Fitbit offers a wide variety of connected health and fitness devices that help people at the everyday, active and performance fitness levels pursue their health objectives.
Fitbit products also have broad mobile compatibility with computers and more than 200 Windows Phone, iOS and Android devices, plus integration with third-party apps that further extend its reach across the globe.
