Over the past two decades, the London Triathlon has established itself as ‘the world’s largest triathlon’, with 13,000 participants taking to London’s Docklands to swim, bike and run the iconic route every year.
Next year’s London Triathlon, which will take place on 6-7 August in 2016, is also preparing for an exciting milestone, its 20th anniversary. The event, which takes place during the Rio 2016 Olympic Games, will aim to celebrate the sport of triathlon, and caters for participants of all abilities.
With four different distances available from Super-Sprint, Sprint, Olympic and Olympic Plus, as well as a variety of wave types from team-relay, age-group, youth, mixed, male and female only waves – the London Triathlon really is positioned as being suitable for everyone.
Attracting first timers, seasoned amateur triathletes, charity fundraisers, celebrities and elites, the London Triathlon is seen by many as a ‘bucket list’ event and it offers a friendly atmosphere for all participants.
Competition for places at the event is expected to be as high as ever, particularly following the relocation of the ITU World Triathlon from London to Leeds in 2016, making the London Triathlon ‘the capital’s only major triathlon’ next year.
