Entries to Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa 2012 are now open on the event’s new-look website. Taking place on 22 April 2012, the event has 30 qualifying slots for the Ford Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
2011 saw 1745 entrants to the iconic event and, according to the race organisers, interest continues to soar year on year.
Normal entry is R4000 (US$575 / €410) until 31 January 2012. Thereafter, late entries will run from 1 February 2012 until 23 March 2012 at R4500 (US$650 / €460).
As title sponsor of the Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa event, Spec-Savers is offering a discounted entry rate to South African and Namibian athletes for a limited time period. Spec-Savers entries are R2700 (US$390 / €275) and will also run until 31 January 2012.
To qualify for the discounted entry rate athletes must be of South African or Namibian nationality, and must simply spend R130 (US$19 / €13) or more at a Spec-Savers store and register for a MyOwn Loyalty Card before 31 January 2012.
Spec-Savers athletes must also wear the free Spec-Savers branded race top provided at registration for the duration of the entire race.
