BEST Centre in Mallorca goes MAD for HUUB swim analysis system

Award-winning wetsuit and triathlon apparel manufacturer HUUB Design has announced a research partnership with the BEST Swim Centre, Mallorca, which will see the centre house HUUB’s ‘revolutionary and unrivalled’ Measuring Active Drag (MAD) system.

With the Measuring Active Drag (MAD) system, HUUB Design has developed an in water system which allows quantified gains from wetsuit use to be measured and evidenced.

HUUB explains that these gains can give amateur and professional athletes alike the edge over other competitors, ‘as will be seen this summer at the Olympic Games, with a number of elite level athletes, including Alistair and Jonathan Brownlee and Helen Jenkins, all choosing to wear HUUB Design suits’.

HUUB adds that the development of the MAD system is now a ‘key component of the company to empirically prove the performance enhancement developed suit technology’.

On the MAD system and the link with the BEST Centre, Dean Jackson, founder of HUUB Design, said “The MAD system represents a landmark not only in HUUB’s history, but also in the triathlon and swimming market. No company has this type of testing and analysis available in house. As a company we take pride in delivering industry leading levels of research and data that is then factored into all our products. Working with the BEST Centre represents a major land mark for us and gives us access to some of the best facilities in the world.”

Situated on the south coast of Mallorca, the BEST Centre was founded by Olympic swimmers James Parrack and Matthew O’Connor, with the intention to create the ideal training environment for athletes of all different levels. The BEST Centre has its own on-site hotel, the Bluewater, which has state-of-the-art training facilities.

On the link with HUUB Design, James Parrack from the BEST Centre said “We are always looking for best in class partners, and we are very proud to be working with HUUB on such ground breaking technology. We are looking forward to a long relationship with HUUB to help wherever we can in the pursuit of improved performance and broadening the knowledge base for the next generation of athletes and coaches.”

Derby-based HUUB Design prides itself on focusing wholly on the athlete, maximising comfort and performance through science. HUUB Design has won Best Tri Wetsuit Brand Of The Year from 2013 to 2016 at the 220 Triathlon Awards and additionally picked up Best Tri Suit Brand and Best Race Under 500 Participants for the Jenson Button Trust Triathlon in 2016.
