SCOTT has presented its #seRIOusgames edition of bikes and accessories. The company adds that the new product range ‘visualizes the colourful spirit of Brazil and is dedicated to SCOTT athletes who will be representing their nations in Rio.’
A race that only takes place once every four years is without doubt special. Many of the best athletes in the world are setting their eyes on Rio 2016. SCOTT adds that their training, sacrifice and dedication have one intention only: to qualify, compete and to win a medal… ‘In order to honour our athletes’ dedication to this one goal, SCOTT Sports introduces the Rio Special Edition.’
Athletes across multiple disciplines have qualified for the Rio events in August. Road cyclists from Team ORICA-BikeExchange, Orica-AIS and IAM Cycling, mountain bikers led by Nino Schurter, Jenny Rissveds and Irina Kalentieva and world class triathletes such as Flora Duffy and Sarah True will be fighting for medals in the road, TT, mountain bike and triathlon events.
They are joined by dozens of other athletes supported by national subsidiaries and distributors of SCOTT Sports.
“When we kicked off the project, we did a lot of research regarding colours, patterns and symbols which represent aspects of Brazilian culture,” said Michael Pinto, the designer behind the Rio Special Edition.
“It wasn’t until I spent my holidays in Brazil that I found this unique pattern in the streets of Rio which for me perfectly represents the colourful culture and spirit of the Brazilian people.”
Pinto then worked on the integration of the pattern into a design concept that features SCOTT’s ‘Racing Concept’ colours: black and yellow. The company added that the colourful, yet balanced design will shine on the streets and on the trails in and around Rio when the time comes for the big showdown.
While the #seRIOusgames edition is dedicated to the Rio qualifiers, SCOTT Sports will offer a limited edition of 50 items of the Foil road bike frame to its customers worldwide. The framesets will be available as of September 2016 and can be ordered through SCOTT Sports’ national distribution network.
