New BB and chainring partnerships help Verve InfoCrank power up

Power meter specialist Verve Cycling has announced partnerships with manufacturers Ceramic Speed and SPE?CIALITE?S TA to create new products to enhance the performance features of Verve’s InfoCrank.

InfoCrank is positioned as a precision device for power measurement. Now, Verve adds that it can be considered as a performance aid. When combined with new ceramic bottom brackets and rigid chainrings, it ‘boasts unparalleled stiffness and low friction for optimised power transfer, helping the competitive cyclist or triathlete to save watts and ride faster.’

In collaboration with Ceramic Speed, Verve has designed and manufactured special Ceramic Bearing Bottom Brackets for Cervélo bikes (BBright) targeting triathletes and also for bikes with BB386Evo bottom brackets, ‘for those who love Italian style frames’. Verve adds that this means for the first time, the 30mm spindle version of the InfoCrank can be fitted to the fastest bikes.

The lifetime of the new Verve Ceramic Speed bearings is claimed to be 3-5 times longer than steel bearings, and will ‘save even an average rider thousands of watts over their lifespan’. The ceramic bearings are fitted into purpose-built red metal cups.

Verve Cycling has collaborated with another established name in the world of French cycling – chain ring manufacturer SPE?CIALITE?S TA – to design and produce the Verve 53-tooth Speed Chain Ring. This Aero Ring is intended to enhance the performance of the stiff InfoCrank (30mm spindle version), providing ‘excellent rigidity and great shifting’. Prototypes of this ring were reportedly tested for a year on the road before going ahead with this project.

Both the Verve Ceramic Speed BBs and the Verve Speed Ring are available separately or in a package for InfoCrank buyers for a supplement to the base InfoCrank price.
