Beachbody, one of the world’s leading providers and innovators of fitness, nutrition, and weight-loss programs, and the official sports nutrition supplement of the IRONMAN North American Series, has released the latest Beachbody On Demand (BOD) mobile app, version 2.0.
The update introduces a new Apple Watch companion app that presents users with biometric feedback across Apple devices when they exercise and utilizes the latest features available in iOS 10 and WatchOS 3. Beachbody On Demand and Beachbody’s P90X program were highlighted by Apple during its September 2016 keynote as ‘an example of the enhanced, integrated experience made possible by pairing the latest Apple products with Beachbody’s content and the innovative iOS app.’
Users can access real-time biometric data, including continuous heart-rate monitoring with haptic feedback for zone-targeting. A release from the company adds that this is ‘overlaid onto Beachbody’s premium fitness content to create an exciting, immersive, and unique user experience.’ This also allows users to be smarter about how they work out so they can adjust their intensity, exercise, and routine, which should result in improved motivation and optimal results.
Beachbody’s Chief Digital Officer Bill Bradford said, “We’re building a platform that utilizes data at its core and integrates the best content and technologies in innovative ways that will transform the Health & Fitness category. The latest version of Beachbody On Demand is the first of many exciting examples you’ll see coming from Beachbody as we transform our business and the industry.”
Commenting on Beachbody’s continuing technological innovations and the importance of Beachbody On Demand, Beachbody CEO Carl Daikeler said, “Healthy behaviour change is difficult for people. Biometric feedback is a great breakthrough to get people engaged in real results. By combining ongoing technological innovations with easy access to a vast library of proven programming plus constant peer support, we are seeing more and more people get excited about living a healthier lifestyle. It’s still about the human experience, but enhanced with technology.”
In addition to the overlay of biometric data during a workout program, Beachbody On Demand provides a detailed summary of a user’s performance including how long they stayed in each heart rate zone to help maximize results over time. With the combined technologies of the Apple Watch and the latest version of the Beachbody On Demand mobile app, Beachbody is integrating data into premium content, ‘putting fitness and health squarely in the hands of its users to help them reach their goals.’
BOD users also have access to a variety of program tools including workout calendars, fitness guides, and in-depth nutrition plans, along with ‘simple navigation that makes pausing and playing intuitive, even mid-workout.’ The BOD app boasts an extensive library of more than 500 workouts including the most recently launched exclusive programs, 3 Week Yoga Retreat, a beginner’s yoga program guided by a team of experienced certified yoga instructors, and Fixate, a brand new cooking show from 21-Day Fix super trainer Autumn Calabrese.
