The VELOBerlin show has found a new home. After seven years at Messe Berlin, the bike festival in the German capital, held this year on the weekend of 14-15 April 2017, is moving to the former Tempelhof Airport. The historic complex in the centre of Berlin includes covered outdoor areas and large, light atmospheric hangars.
The grounds of the former Tempelhof Airport offer up one of the most popular and history-rich event hotspots in Germany. The imposing complex provides VELOBerlin visitors and exhibitors with ‘large historic hangers for trade fair booths, huge covered outdoor areas for extensive test ride experiences and side events, and a central location in the heart of Berlin.’
“We are pleased that, in the future, we will be able to hold VELOBerlin on the grounds of the former Tempelhof Airport,” said Stefan Reisinger, Eurobike head, member of the management at Messe Friedrichshafen and organizer of VELOBerlin. “The location is exactly what we wanted and offers an ideal setting for the German capital’s largest bike festival.”
Ulrike Saade, Managing Director of Velokonzept and promoter of VELOBerlin since 2011, added, “The years at Messe Berlin were great. But this is exactly the right time for a change. We are extremely pleased that we can offer exhibitors and visitors a fantastic bike festival on the grounds of the former airport.”
The new venue is not the only change that exhibitors and visitors can look forward to. “We have analyzed our events and are taking the developments in the bike market and the many aspects related to bicycles into account,” says Robert Burkhardt, Department Head at Velokonzept.
He continued, “In the new Urban & Lifestyle, Sport & Adventure, Bike & Travel as well as Testival & Side Events areas, we will set even more dynamic accents, especially in the Sport and Lifestyle fields. A comprehensive range, combined with an extensive program including a variety of test routes and side events will again make VELOBerlin the bike event of the spring in 2018.”
With more than 300 brands and exhibitors, VELOBerlin is the German capital’s largest bike festival. The new location, including the hangars and covered outdoor areas, has a total of over 20,000 square metres of exhibition and event space. The organisers add that VELOBerlin 2018 will be easy to reach using all modes of transportation. The Paradestrasse subway station is adjacent to the site and sufficient parking is also available. Visitors who ride their bike to the event can either safely park it in front of the exhibition halls or take it in the event with them.
VELOBerlin focus on innovations and trends in the bicycle industry. The show has had a long collaboration with the Berlin Department for Urban Development, and with institutions and individuals in politics, public administration and lobby organizations, as well as the Eurobike international bike trade show and local and national media.
