The ÖTILLÖ Swimrun 1000 Lakes event will see its second edition on 1 October, in the area of ‘Mecklenburger Seenplatte’ (Mecklenburg Lake District), north of Berlin, Germany. The scenic ÖTILLÖ 1000 Lakes mixes a total of 41.4km forest trail running and lake swimming. It is the last race of the 2017 ÖTILLÖ season, concluding the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Series 2017 with a winner to be crowned in each category: men, women and mixed team.
ÖTILLÖ Swimrun 1000 Lakes at Mecklenburger Seenplatte in north east Germany is an area with over a thousand lakes surrounded by ‘dense fairy tale beech tree forests’. The total distance of 41.4km includes 10 different sections of swims in pristine lakes mixed with fast runs on the hard-packed, technically easy sand trails in the surrounding forests.
The German ÖTILLÖ edition is the last World Series race of the 2017 swimrun season and by the end of the event it will be clear which teams in each category (Women, Mixed and Men) will win the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Series 2017. The winners are based on the most amount of points collected after the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Series events 2017: ÖTILLÖ Hvar, ÖTILLÖ Utö, ÖTILLÖ Isles of Scilly, ÖTILLÖ Engadin, and ÖTILLÖ 1000 Lakes.
Alongside the settling of the overall ÖTILLÖ World Series 2017 winners, the eight top teams at ÖTILLÖ Swimrun 1000 Lakes qualify to the ÖTILLÖ Swimrun World Championship 2018. This takes place on 3 September 2018, in the Stockholm Archipelago of Sweden – with the top three men, top three mixed and top two women’s teams securing a slot.
