Tailwind Rebuild: new vegan recovery drink ‘rebuilds, restores and replenishes’

Colorado-based sports drink manufacturer, Tailwind Nutrition, is aiming to go the extra mile with the debut of Tailwind Rebuild, an all-natural vegan, gluten-free recovery drink mix debuting in stores in 2018. According to the company, Rebuild replenishes depleted glycogen stores and rebuilds muscles ‘so athletes can go back out and get after it the next day’.

Derived from high-quality rice protein, Tailwind adds that Rebuild is formulated with the necessary carbohydrates, amino acids and electrolytes required to replace depleted glycogen stores, balance metabolism and rebuild broken down muscle fibres and mitochondrial proteins. Rebuild mixes with water for a drink that is designed to be consumed in the all-important 30-60 minute window after intense exercise.

Like Tailwind’s Endurance Fuel drink, Rebuild is formulated to support an athlete’s nutritional needs ‘without the worry of food allergies or sensitivities’. Made with natural ingredients that are free of GMOs, dairy, soy, and gluten, Rebuild comes in chocolate and vanilla flavours that aim to provide sustained recovery and restoration without upsetting an athlete’s stomach.

“We are extremely excited to fill out Tailwind’s current product line with Rebuild, and be able to support athletes not only during high intensity exercise, but in the post-workout recovery phase as well,” said Art Zemach, M.D., an endurance athlete and pediatrician, who co-developed Tailwind Rebuild with Jeff Vierling, founder of Tailwind.

“Rebuild is based on scientific research around incomplete versus complete proteins. Studies show that incomplete proteins found in many standard sports recovery drinks are not used to rebuild your muscles, but simply burned as fuel. Complete proteins like we use in Rebuild are extremely useful in restoring muscle fibres after intense exercise and mitochondrial proteins after endurance exercise.”

Rebuild will be available in stores and online in early 2018. Tailwind Nutrition will be debuting Rebuild at The Running Event in Austin, Texas, at Booth #642.
