Triathlon Canada athletes will be sporting new race uniforms and team wear at start lines around the world in 2018, thanks to a new partnership established with 2XU Canada. 2XU Canada will supply all compression garments, training and racing apparel for Triathlon Canada’s high-performance athletes and age group teams in 2018.
This latest deal covering apparel and compression follows a wetsuit sponsorship confirmed with Zone3 in December.
“Our athletes have asked for us to go in a new direction with regards to our apparel partner,” said Kim Van Bruggen, Chief Executive Officer at Triathlon Canada. “We have clearly heard them, and have delivered.”
Van Bruggen added that the two companies will work together over the next 10 months with the ultimate goal of extending the relationship through to 2020. “Triathlons are a demanding three-sport discipline that require athletes to be comfortable while competing in a variety of elements in order to ensure a competitive advantage. 2XU Canada is a proven performer, and we look forward to having them on our team’s quest for the podium at all levels.”
Based in Toronto, 2XU Canada has its product, in particular its compression gear, prominently available in major and key account retailers across the country. 2XU has also partnered with many of the top sporting teams and accomplished athletes around the world – such as three-time IRONMAN World and IRONMAN World 70.3 champion Daniela Ryf.
“Our mission every day is to advance human performance through the development of world-leading athletic garments,” said Nikki Beal, Managing Director at 2XU Canada. “We know Triathlon Canada shares similar goals, with a clear focus on providing athletes access to the tools they require to see what they are truly made of.
“We understand the intricate details in a world-leading garment our nation’s best athletes need, and deserve, to achieve their ultimate goals in swim, bike and run. No matter the start line, we are in this together!”
Triathlon Canada and 2XU Canada will also work together to implement a year-round merchandise program through an online store, and will establish relationships with retailers throughout the country to carry Triathlon Canada products.
Triathlon Canada is the governing body of the sport in the country. Triathlon Canada’s more than 22,000 members include athletes, coaches and officials from the grassroots to elite levels.
