Subaru Banff Triathlon gets intimate in Canadian Rockies

With the introduction of the Subaru Banff Triathlon, Banff National Park in the heart of the Canadian Rockies will be added to the 2010 line up of races within the Subaru West Coast Triathlon Series. This race is intended to be intimate. Capped at 500 entry places, according to the race organisers, the Subaru Banff Triathlon could quickly become known as one of the most beautiful triathlons in the world.

The swim takes place in pristine Two Jack Lake followed by a cycle around the breathtaking Minnewanka Loop. The run will trek around the town of Banff and finish down famous Banff Avenue with the Cascade Mountain as the back drop and into Central Park, nestled on the edges of the Bow River.

Banff National Park is at the heart of the Canadian Rocky Mountains World Heritage Site, a global site of natural beauty, wildness, and diversity of life.

The event will take place on 11 September 2010 and will include both Olympic and Sprint distance triathlons. Registration, capped at 500 spots, will open on 1 December 2009.

The Subaru West Coast Triathlon Series features five events hosted in beautiful locations across Canada’s west coast. The events have a festival feel and include an expo, kid’s fun run, entertainment and clinics hosted by top international coaches and athletes.

In addition to headline sponsor Subaru, other sponsors include: New Balance, LifeSport Coaching, Timex, PowerBar, AquaSphere and Blue Competition Cycles
