Warm hands and feet are essential for an enjoyable winter ride, so Scottish apparel specialist Endura has rolled out an assortment of overshoes and gloves to keep cyclists perfectly equipped throughout the year. Hot on the heels of its recently launched ‘ultra-packable’ Endura Pakajak cycling jacket, the latest member of the Endura overshoe family is the Deluge Zipless Overshoe. The new Deluge, is positioned as ‘an ideal cycling essential for the winter training seasons thanks to the high-performance neoprene materials it is made of.’
So what is so special about this new overshoe? According to Endura, the secret here is ‘less is more’. With most overshoes, the heel zip is their weak point, letting water in, causing sore spots or allowing chafing, or simply not closing or opening properly. As an alternative, Endura has developed a zipless overshoe.
Now the trick is of course to make sure that these overshoes are still easy to put on and take off, as well as ensuring a tight fit. Here the ‘superstretch neoprene material’ comes into play. The neoprene keeps feet feeling snug because of its thermal properties. This particular construction has especially high stretch characteristics allowing the overshoes to be pulled on and off without difficulty, whilst providing a snug and secure fit when cycling.
To deliver good abrasion resistant properties, the superstretch neoprene of the cuff is combined with a tough nylon faced neoprene upper front, and the back panel at the heel is made of durable stretch rib fabric. The fabric of the sole, which features Kevlar stitching, has good abrasion resistance and is built to last.
The stretch panel that goes across the foot accommodates a range of shoes, making the sole MTB and road cleat compatible. Design details include a reflective heel pull tab to help taking them off easily, reflective logos on the heel and toe area, and orange contrast stitching.
