Nation’s Triathlon raises US$11 million to benefit cancer research

The 6th Annual Nation’s Triathlon, To Benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which took place in the US capital on 11 September, has raised more than US$11 million to date including US$2.75 million for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society this year. With nearly 700 athletes competing and raising funds through the Society’s (LLS) world-famous Team In Training (TNT) endurance sport training program the partnership has garnered more than US$11 million for research, patient education and support initiatives that will help the LLS get closer to a cure.

The Nation’s Triathlon is the only triathlon in the US dedicated to building awareness and raising money for the treatment of leukemia and blood-related cancers.

“We’d like to thank all of our Team in Training competitors,” noted race founder Charles Brodsky. “Their spirit, determination and generosity helps bring us closer every day to finding a cure for blood cancers. We are honoured to partner with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and provide a platform to help so many compete for such a worthy cause.”

The Nation’s Triathlon is one of the premiere International/Olympic distance triathlons in the United States and the only race to benefit research toward a cure for blood cancers. Set against the magnificent and patriotic setting of the nation’s capital and its monuments, participants in the Nation’s Triathlon swim 1.5K in the Potomac River, bike 40K through scenic vistas, and run 10K through downtown D.C.

The Nation’s Tri was been named the 2011 USAT Mid-Atlantic Regional Championship Race. Official sponsors for the 2011 race included: AT&T, Clif Bar, Clif Shot, Craft, Events DC, Gatorade, Giant Bikes, Gryphon Technologies, Jackson Clinics, jetBlue, Karhu, Muscle Milk, Pacers Running Store, Samsung and Xterra Wetsuits.
