From plastic bottle to footwear?, New Balance’s newSKY initiative sees a range of shoes with a ‘minimal, thoughtfully designed upper made from 95% recycled plastic bottles.’ The upper components of newSKY shoes use Eco-fi polyester – a high quality fibre made from post-consumer PET plastic bottles.
According to New Balance, the average pair of newSKY shoes uses 8 plastic bottles.
