American Triple T format rolls out in North Carolina

The American Triple-T, which features four triathlon events over a series of three days, has a new East Coast version to be held at White Lake, North Carolina in October 2010. The new Triple T North Carolina event is expanding on the popular triathlon series already hosted in Portsmouth, Ohio in May.

Triple T North Carolina will see athletes complete a super sprint distance triathlon on Friday 8 October 2010, followed by two Olympic distance triathlons on Saturday 9 October, and concluding with a half iron distance triathlon on Sunday 10 October.

The super sprint distance consists of a 250 metre swim, 7 mile bike, and a 1 mile run; which will serve as a warm up for the rest of the weekend. The Olympic distance consists of a 1,500 metre swim, 24.8 mile bike, and a 6.2 mile run. Lastly, the half iron distance consists of a 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, and a 13.1 mile run.

The American Triple-T format sees participants compete in two person teams or in a solo division. According to the race organisers HFP Racing, the event offers participants intimate camaraderie and sportsmanship not often found in traditional triathlons.
