‘To Make Riders Faster’, the book about Gerard Vroomen’s and Phil White’s journey with Cervélo Cycles, has been awarded a Reviewers Choice Award.
The book was recognised by Reader Views and a specialist panel of private, independent literary reviewers.
The story won the first prize literary award in the business/sales/economics category. The book encapsulates the way in which two students disrupted the cycling industry, building the Cervélo bike brand from a basement school project to the top of pro cycling in less than a decade.
The story, written by Anna Dopico – who spent three years writing the Cervélo book and interviewed employees, partners, suppliers, customers and athletes for their insights and perspectives – follows the 16-year journey of Phil White and Gerard Vroomen, the creators of Cervélo. They realised their dream of seeing their bikes win in the Tour de France, the Olympics and IRONMAN.
Author, Anna Dopico said “I’m so truly honoured and thankful to receive the Reader Views award. I loved putting the book together. I wanted anyone who read the book to enjoy and feel inspired by the story of two engineering students who built a company and succeeded against the odds.
“It shares the struggles, the successes, the sacrifices, the lucky wins and the near misses. The story was meant to resonate with everyone and especially with Cervélo owners, cyclists and entrepreneurs. Receiving the award is a tremendous accolade and I’m thrilled and appreciative that people are enjoying the book.”
