‘Big time racing in Europe’ at gold XTERRA event, XTERRA France

The 13th annual XTERRA France off-road triathlon takes place this Sunday, July 7, in the Vosges mountains of Xonrupt-Longemer, in the east of the country.

It’s the ninth of 14 stop on the 2019 XTERRA European Tour and the first of four consecutive gold events. XTERRA notes that these dish out bigger points, bigger prize purses, more Maui spots for amateurs, and annually attracts the best amateur and professional off-road triathletes from around the world.

This will be the 10th time the event will be staged at the lake in Longemer, where ‘huge crowds come out to watch thousands of competitors take on the XTERRA challenges.’

The course itself is one of the toughest on the XTERRA World Tour, combining a 1.5K swim with a 40K mountain bike that climbs more than 1200m, and a 10K technical trail run through the forest.

In addition to a packed field of pro off-road triathletes, there is a lot at stake for amateur racers – including the chance to secure one of the 51 qualifying slots into the 24th annual XTERRA World Championship in Kapalua, Maui.

In addition to the main event, XTERRA France hosts kids’ races, a swim-run, and a sprint tri with, overall, more than 2,000 competitors taking part.

All the action from France is being filmed for inclusion in the award-winning XTERRA Adventures television series, a 12-episode set of half-hour shows featuring the colourful characters of XTERRA as they train, travel, and race at events around the world.

The XTERRA Adventures episode from France will debut on September 18, 2019 on Outside TV in the US, while international viewers can watch it simultaneously on Outside TV’s YouTube channel.
