UK-based race entry platform RaceNation has unveiled an event day app. The company states that this ‘will allow event participants and spectators to manage, interact and organise like never before.’
The free RaceNation event day app will come as standard to organisers using RaceNation’s services. It will feature interactive course maps, built through Google Maps, with live tracking for spectators to view the progress of friends and family.
An in-built messaging service will mean that friends and family can send good luck messages or notify athletes of meet-up locations, with the messages then playing through connected headphones, taking away the need for race participants to get out their phone.
Interactive event village maps show additional information, including bag drops, transport links, shops and charity tents.
Event organisers are able to manage the platform from their mobile, removing the need for complex backend programming and making the process of live interaction and updates possible. As the app is free with any event registered through RaceNation, the company adds that this means that events of any size have access to the technology.
Integrating charity fundraising has been fundamental to RaceNation’s strategy. Participants and spectators will now also be able to use the app to donate straight to charity pages. By aligning with the RaceNation fundraising arm, SportsGiving, anyone with the app can donate straight to their worthy cause ‘without wasting time or large commission fees with third party fundraising platforms.’
Safety features are also incorporated. Event organisers and doctors can determine where participants are on the course and will have direct access to up to date medical records, modernising the traditional requirement of filling out the back of the race bib.
Will Golder, Director of RaceNation and former TeamGB Bobsleigh driver said, “With a rapidly growing list of events, we pride ourselves on using the latest technology to make the event day experience better for everyone. Never before has anyone focussed on connecting through an app the hundreds of thousands of participants to their spectators and charities that make these events so inspirational.
“By introducing the app, we hope to not only make the event day more inclusive, stress free and safer for any size event, but also increase on the millions of pounds raised for charity through Sports Giving.”

RaceNation is a sports technology and ticketing company, providing event registration, club membership management and fundraising on a multi-device platform. Entrants sign-up to their race and event organisers use the platform to manage all their participants’ data, money and event information.
RaceNation introduced SportsGiving as a fully featured online donation platform specifically aimed at the sports sector. The platform is secure, GiftAid compatible and ‘offers some of the lowest fees in the industry’. When aligned with RaceNation, every entrant is automatically set-up with a SportsGiving page. Event owners have visibility over all funds raised, and event emails can include links & totals from event sponsorship pages.
