On December 13-15, 2019, Challenge Daytona presented its second annual Challenge Daytona Festival at the iconic Daytona International Speedway in Florida. The event attracted athletes from across the globe, and included a star-studded professional field with over 50 of the world’s top triathletes.
Having completed the 2019 event, the ‘family-friendly international multi-sport festival’ has announced it will host the third annual event on December 4-6, 2020.
“Challenge Daytona has been an incredible compliment to the Challenge Family brand,” said Challenge Family CEO Zibi Szlufcik. “The participation from athletes and fans clearly demonstrates the demand for the Challenge Family experience here in the United States. Athlete and fan experience is paramount, and Challenge Daytona continues to deliver a world class experience. We look forward to 2020.”
Daytona International Speedway President Chip Wile added “Challenge Daytona sends a clear message that there is a race for every athlete and ability. A variety of events are offered at Challenge Daytona – including Sprint and Middle Distance Triathlons, the Junior Challenge kids’ race, Relay categories, Duathlon and Aquabike events, Sprint Special Needs, ‘Daytona Distance Under the Lights’ for pro athletes, Pro Am Race and 5K/10K run/walk events.
The top six male and female finishers in each Middle-Distance Triathlon age group at next year’s event will qualify for entry in The Championship, to be held in May 2021 at the x-bionic sphere sports resort in Samorin, Slovakia.
