Registration opened at 13:00 EST for Ironman Florida 2012 yesterday, Sunday 6 November, and closed 16 minutes later as the race filled up in record time. This rapid sell-out of the popular Ironman Florida event comes hot on the heels of a record sell-out for Ironman 70.3 Vineman, and reaffirms the continuing allure of Ironman-branded events – particularly in North America.
Taking place at Panama Beach, Florida, the 2012 Ironman Florida race is scheduled for Saturday 3 November. Ironman Florida will offer 50 Age Group qualifying slots to the 2013 Ironman World Championship, taking place on 12 October in Kailua-Kona, Hawai’i. There will be a prize purse of US$25,000 for distribution among the top professional male and female finishers.
This year’s event saw more than 2,500 athletes start and featured two of the fastest performances ever seen on North American soil.
