The IRONMAN Group has announced the results of its 2019 Athlete Choice Awards. The awards recognise the top 10 highest-scoring events in a variety of categories based solely on athlete surveys from all of the 2019 IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 races globally.
Out of the 41 IRONMAN series events that took place in 2019, Nutri-Grain IRONMAN New Zealand earned the biggest honour in Overall Satisfaction. Out of the 113 IRONMAN 70.3 series events that took place in 2019, IRONMAN 70.3 Les Sables d’Olonne – Vendée in France took top honours in Overall Satisfaction.
Results for the 2019 Athlete Choice Awards were gathered from post event surveys sent to all athletes who competed in an IRONMAN or IRONMAN 70.3 race. Surveys were based on a five-point satisfaction scale and encompassed multiple categories. These included:
- Overall Swim,
- Overall Bike,
- Overall Run,
- Overall Satisfaction,
- Overall Venue Experience,
- Overall Host City Experience,
- Overall Post-Race Celebration,
- Will Attend Next Year, and
- Will Recommend to a Friend, among others.
After collecting feedback from over 60,000 total survey respondents, the winners were chosen for each category of IRONMAN and IRONMAN 70.3 events. IRONMAN added that this marks a major accomplishment for the events and their host communities.
