The Covid-19 pandemic continues to force cancellations of events – with both IRONMAN events in Lake Placid, in New York State, and IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder in Colorado now confirmed as not taking place in 2020.
The full distance IRONMAN Lake Placid was originally scheduled for July 26, 2020; and was subsequently tentatively rescheduled for August 30, 2020.
Yet, following continued challenges due to the pandemic, the event organising teams have released the following statements to confirm the event cancellations in 2020…
IRONMAN Lake Placid and IRONMAN 70.3 Lake Placid
Based on the updated mandate from the Village of Lake Placid and Township of North Elba in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 IRONMAN Lake Placid triathlon cannot take place in 2020 will return on July 25, 2021.
Additionally, the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 Lake Placid triathlon originally scheduled for September 13 cannot take place in 2020. All registered athletes of the 2020 IRONMAN Lake Placid and IRONMAN 70.3 Lake Placid triathlons will be receiving an email with further information.
IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder
Based on the mandate from Boulder County in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 IRONMAN 70.3 Boulder triathlon, originally scheduled for August 1 cannot take place in 2020.
Athletes that are registered for the race will receive an email with further details. In what has been a continually evolving and challenging time globally, we recognize that this may come as a disappointment but look forward to providing athletes with an exceptional race experience in the future.
