The Clásico El Colombiano is a cycling event with a long history in Antioquia, Colombia. It is organized by the Classic Foundation of Executives El Colombiano, whose main purpose is to improve the social, educational, cultural and sporting conditions of the community.
Given the COVID-19 health emergency declared in the country, the Clásico El Colombiano has shifted from a real world to a virtual event on ROUVY.
On August 2nd, a virtual version of the event will take place, with cyclists participating from all over the world. The ‘Reto Peajes’ (Topos – Llanogrande – Carrizales) route will be 33km long and will showcase virtual scenery in Antioquia, Colombia.
The race has 11 categories according to competitive level, age and whether riders have a Smart or non-Smart simulator. The entry registration fee is US$15 and participants can register online. Money collected from entry fees will be contributed to social work in Colombian communities.
Race Director, Marcelo Rincón said “It is a classic route among Antioquia cyclists that meets the ideal characteristics for a race (sprint, mountain prizes, and rest areas).”
The virtual race will also be broadcast live on television at 09:00 local time on the Colombian regional channel, Teleantioquia.
