Although a loyal Speedo man when in the pool, Michael Phelps has recently signed an endorsement deal with Under Armour apparel, agreeing to wear the company’s workout clothes when he’s not in the water.
The Olympic champion with 14 gold medals has endorsed Under Armour, which is in the process of raising its game with a series of TV ads of all its endorsers.
“Right now we’re focused on training apparel and footwear," said Steve Battista, Under Armour’s Senior Vice President – Brand, referring to the Phelps’ deal. "We signed him with the intent of knowing that he trains like a fiend outside of the pool."
Although Battista declined to disclose financial terms, he noted that Phelps is "hands down our highest global profile athlete."
