SCOTT has released its all-new Addict Gravel, billed as… ‘a bike that was designed with nothing less than the following in mind: be fast on tarmac, feel comfortable on any kind of rough terrain, and provide superb handling on gnarly trails.’
“Our goal from day one was to build an ultimate gravel bike that you can take on any adventure,” said William Juban, Head of Road Bike Engineering at SCOTT. “One bike that can do it all. The result is what we believe to be the fastest, most capable, and most fun gravel bike on the market.”
The Addict Gravel comes with a lightweight frame construction, a more progressive geometry, increased tyre clearance, and extended mount options for bags. Thanks to the help of SCOTT’s own component brand Syncros, it also takes integration to a new level. The cable routing is entirely integrated, and the front end features a one-piece bar-stem combo with the Syncros Creston iC SL X.
In a release, SCOTT noted… ‘The geometry has been optimized for modern, aggressive gravel riding. Our goal was to create a well-balanced geometry for controlled and predictive handling even in tricky situations on narrow trails.
‘It comes with an increased reach, longer fork rake, lower bottom bracket and shorter stem to make for a more agile and stable bike off-road, that still provides the optimal position for pedalling efficiency even with bigger tyres. The tyre clearance was increased to 45mm to guarantee a controlled and smooth riding experience.’
Through clever layering and reinforcement in certain zones SCOTT came up with a light but also durable frameset. The Addict Gravel Tuned frame weights 930g and the fork 395g.
The new Addict Gravel has completely integrated cable routing for both mechanical and electronic shifting as found on the Addict RC or Foil RC. This is possible through the brand-new SYNCROS Creston iC SL X cockpit.
It comes with a flare of 16° for off-road handling and an impressive weight of 335g. For increased shock absorption the tops section was recessed to allow for the use of thicker gravel specific bar tape keeping an integrated design.
SCOTT adds that integrated cable routing not only makes for a clean and premium look, but also improves the airflow in the front and provides more space and no cable rubbing for handlebar bags.
The new bike comes with smart mounts for gear and accessories. There is a mounting option for bolt-on top-tube bags and accessories. There is also an extra mount on the down tube for an additional bottle cage or toolbox. Two different bottle cage positions, for better access when riding with a frame bag, along with fender mounts are another new feature.
SCOTT’s patented airfoil design has been applied to its main tubes (down tube, head tube, seat tube, seat post, seat stays) with the goal to optimizing the airflow and reduce the overall drag without any compromise on comfort and compliance.
All Addict Gravel bikes will come with hydraulic disc brakes and 160mm disc rotors for braking performance. The front allows for 160mm/180mm, back 160mm/140mm.
The bike is compatible with one and two-by drive trains. For one-by, the front derailleur plate can be replaced by a bike specific chain guide or closing plate.
The Addict Gravel comes with hidden mounts for fenders on the seat-stay and fork. The tyre clearance is 40mm with fenders.
There are five different models to choose from. Two-by options can be found from SRAM and Shimano as well as one-by from SRAM. The Tuned version comes with a Quarc powermeter. The specs of the Addict Gravel 20 will be just released on August 10th. To complete the Gravel product family a new Speedster Gravel will be launched in August.
Pricing for the new range starts at £1319 for the SCOTT Contessa Speedster Gravel 25 bike, through to £7699 for the SCOTT Addict Gravel Tuned bike.
