Personal Heatmaps and Surface Type mobile app updates from Strava

Strava has unveiled two new app product updates – Personal Heatmaps on mobile and Surface Type on mobile.

Personal Heatmaps on mobile
Strava is introducing Personal Heatmaps on mobile to help athletes see everywhere they have been previously.

Athletes will now be able to toggle back and forth between their own Personal Heatmap and the Global Heatmap for a quick look at where they might not have ventured out yet.

To access the new feature, athletes need to tap into the Maps tab and tap on the Map Layers icon to see their heatmaps. This feature was previously available on web only.

Surface Type map style
Another new feature launching this week is Surface Type on mobile – a new Stat Map to showcase trail and gravel adventures. The latest feature lets Strava athletes map and keep a record of the types of terrain they are covering during their activities.

To access this feature, athletes need to head to Activity detail – edit and then choose map.

Both these features require the Strava app version 223 or greater.
