Event organiser OTB Sport expects a participant field of around 150 triathletes at the MTN Business Off Road Triathlon in Namibia. The event takes place this Sunday 28 March, at Friedenau Dam in the centre of the southern African country.
OTB Sport said the event had also attracted international interest from USA based XTERRA. According to OTB, it was considering an XTERRA proposition of including the event in the world wide XTERRA series.
OTB Sport said it was very pleased to see the increase in the number of individuals participating in both its Full off-road event and the Rookie categories. Especially pleasing was the increase in the younger age categories, which bodes well for the Namibian triathlon scene.
The Full event consists of a 1.2K swim, 24K bike and a challenging off-road run of 8.7K, for which a path is specifically cut out of the surrounding bush. The Rookie event consists of a 600m swim, 10K cycle and 3K run. There was also a separate event for under 12s.
