This year’s Milano-Torino presented by Eolo will start from Magenta (near Milan) and finish in Rivoli (near Turin). After ending on top of the Colle Superga in nine of the last 10 editions, this year the route will be suitable for the sprinters.
Getting under way today (March 16) some of the big names expected at the start are: Mark Cavendish, Peter Sagan, Alexander Kristoff, Greg Van Avermaet, Matteo Moschetti, Simone Consonni, Jakub Mareczko, Alberto Dainese, Davide Cimolai, Juan Sebastian Molano, Ben Swift, Nacer Bouhanni, Kaden Groves and Alex Aranburu.
The Milano-Torino Eolo will also be a comeback race for Vincenzo Nibali, Michal Kwiatkowski and Alberto Bettiol.
‘The 103rd edition of the race follows an essentially flat route except for when it crosses the Canavese area, where there are some short ups and downs that are neither long nor steep.’
The route begins from Magenta and crosses the upper Po Valley on flat roads surrounded by rice paddies, touching Novara and Vercelli in order to get to the Canavese area after Cavaglià, Viverone and Bollengo.
The Canavese area has small ups and downs that continue north of Turin in the area of the Parco della Mandria. At the entrance to Val di Susa, the road becomes substantially flat again until the finish. In the towns crossed by the route, roundabouts, traffic islands and speed bumps are encountered as usual. The last 10km is practically flat until the finish in Rivoli.
The last 5km follows flat and very wide urban roads, featuring wide roundabouts. The final bend is situated 400m from the finish. The finishing straight is 400m long, and wide (8.5m width), on asphalt.
The 103rd edition of the Milano-Torino Eolo will be broadcasted live for the last two hours of the race. TV images will be distributed in over 200 countries around the world, thanks to the coverage by seven different networks.
The Italian classic will be broadcasted in Europe on Eurosport 1 and on the GCN+ web platform, which will also live stream the race in the rest of the world, with the exception of New Zealand, where it will be possible to watch the race exclusively on SKY Sport.
Fans will able be to watch both races live on DirecTV in South America and on Supersport in South Africa. The race will also be broadcasted by J Sports in Japan. In Italy, RAI will broadcast the race live on the channel RAI Sport +HD from 15:00 to 17:00 CET.
