On Saturday, June 18, 2022, the 10th edition of mozart 100 by UTMB took place in Salzburg, Austria. A record field of over 2,000 participants from over 60 nations embarked on a trail running adventure through Salzburger Land in nine race competitions ranking from 9km to 105km.

For around 700 participants of the 105 km race, the run began at 05:00 CET on Salzburg’s Kapitelplatz at the foot of Hohensalzburg Fortress. The varied trails with +/- 5,000m in elevation and descending led the runners via Hinterwinkel and along the Fuschlsee, up to the Zwölferhorn. After that, runners went via St-Gilgen to the Schafbergalm and from there back via Fuschl am See to Salzburg with the finish line on Kapitelplatz.

“It was great that we were able to follow so many exciting races today in this dream weather,” said Josef Mayerhofer, Race Director of the mozart 100 by UTMB. “We are very satisfied with the course of all competitions and are very pleased that we were able to welcome a record starting field of over 2,000 participants from 60 nations to our beautiful Salzburg this year.

“Also, the race has never been as international as this year, which is certainly related to the start of the UTMB World Series. It is very exciting to be a part of this international trail running series and we hope to be able to show even more international runners the beauty of the Salzburger Land next year.

“A very special thank you goes out to the city of Salzburg, the region of Salzburger Land, and all municipalities, and of course also our partners and service providers for the good cooperation and support over the past ten years. Without them, the event would not have been possible, and I am delighted to look forward to another ten years and more.”
