The IRONMAN Vitoria-Gasteiz took place Sunday July 10, 2022 with 2,500 athletes participating. The race was won by the Australian triathlete Nick Kastelein with a record time of 7 hours and 52 minutes. Cameron Wurf came in second place, only 39 seconds behind Kastelein. German Dominik Sowieja closed the podium three minutes behind the winner after a race that went from strength to strength.
The race had 65% of foreign participants from 65 countries, 90% of the participants have competed for the first time in Vitoria-Gasteiz, 43% of whom have competed for the first time here with their first IRONMAN.
