BH official bike at Challenge Barcelona-Maresme

BH continues to raise its profile in the world of triathlon and is supporting more and more events. In Barcelona, the Spanish bike and fitness equipment brand sponsored the Garmin Barcelona Triathlon. Now, it has ‘taken over the city’, after being chosen as the official bicycle brand of Challenge Barcelona-Maresme.

Part of the international Challenge Family of long distance events, Challenge Barcelona-Maresme is hosting its fourth edition in 2012, comprising two events: a Half Challenge on 27 May 2012 and a full distance Challenge on 30 September. The two have ‘fast yet smooth courses, perfect for triathletes who want to beat their past records or those who want to be finishers for the first time in a long- or half-distance race.’

Commenting on the tie-up with BH Bikes, Challenge Barcelona-Maresme manager Agustí Pérez said, “With this partner, the sky is the limit. BH is bringing its prestige, as the brand was created many years ago and is currently making a strong bet on triathlon, offering quality products for long-distance races.”

The bike maker will stage an exhibition with its triathlon and fitness bikes on show, including the Ultralight, GC Aero, BT Aero and RT Aero models.

The Challenge Barcelona-Maresme is a flagship race in Spain, part of the Challenge Family global series that features 13 races. “The event, which keeps growing by the year, is characterised by the treatment participants receive. This is very important, especially in long-distance races,” said Agustí. “Together with the quality of the event, it’s the main reason why people are coming back once and again.”

Evidence of the race’s prestige and strong local reputation, was that the 2010 edition of Challenge Barcelona-Maresme was designated by the Spanish Triathlon Federation as the best organised triathlon race in Spain that year.

According to the organisers, as many as 1,200 participants have registered for the Half Challenge and around 540 have done so for the full Challenge event. “The race will gather triathletes from more than 30 countries,” Agustí added.
