Sports nutrition specialist Xendurance was the first US company to use Informed Sport certification in 2008 – leveraging the global testing method to ensure its products are clean. When Xendurance looked at skincare, the company realised no-one was certifying its products to be free from banned substances.
In developing its new foray into skincare, Xendurance relied on experienced dermatologists. The new SKIN By XND range is launching with a wide array of products, with Shield & Protect of particular relevance for the endurance athlete community.
With the new launch, Xendurance has had its skincare certified by LGC, a global testing facility that also issues Informed Sport certification. This helps to provide assurance that SKIN By XND products are free from banned substances.
Formulated for active people who experience skin irritation, inflammation, odour from perspiration and chafing, Shield & Protect is applied as a hydrating lotion. It quickly dries into a friction-free powder barrier, creating a protective layer.
Key ingredients include:
- Aloe vera to help retain and moisturise the skin while working as a natural antiseptic
- Tea tree oil, which provides antimicrobial properties to help reduce inflammation
- Tapioca starch contains fast drying properties to reduce perspiration
- Jojoba seed oil contains anti-inflammatory properties to protect skin and promote hydration
- Chamomile (extract) has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties to help soothe and ease symptoms such as sores, rashes and other skin irritation
- Squalane has beneficial antioxidant properties and also helps to moisturize and repair dry, rough skin to improve skin texture and appearance
To use, athletes can apply liberally to areas of the skin that may get irritated or chafe. The product will dry into a friction-free powder barrier and can be reapplied as necessary.
