To mark the seventh anniversary of its partnership with the Strade Bianche race, KOO Eyewear is launching two new versions of its Supernova sunglasses. These are inspired by both the men’s and women’s official jerseys for the 2023 edition of the Gran Fondo Strade Bianche, the event for amateur riders that hits the gravel tracks the day after the professional race.
The elite race is held this year on Saturday, March 5th, 2023, and offers up a range of dirt and gravel tracks – with the race starting and finishing in Siena, in central Italy’s Tuscany region.
Strade Bianche in Italy has built prestige in recent years, and is often considered as ‘the sixth Monument’ of the international cycling calendar.
The race isn’t just reserved for the pros, as it features an amateur Gran Fondo, which ‘enables thousands of enthusiasts to emulate their idols.’
Noting that Strade Bianche has won over hearts of cycling enthusiasts far and wide, Italian brand KOO Eyewear has decided to celebrate its race partnership with two new versions of its Supernova sunglasses. According to the company, this particular model has… ‘taken lightness, comfort and precision visibility to new levels.’
The company notes that the Limited Edition Supernova sunglasses have been inspired by the colours of the men / women’s jerseys, designed specifically for the 2023 Gran Fondo Strade Bianche.
‘The men’s version boasts earthy nuances blended with bright colours of the sun-kissed hills, whilst the women’s version flaunts the warmer earthy tones typical of a Tuscan sunset. And so the Supernova Pine green and Siena red came to life, equipped with a new photochromic lens: from transparent in low light conditions to moving through categories 1 to 3 within 20 seconds, the design helps riders reach maximum levels of protection.’
The Supernova Pine green lenses assume a red mirror tint following photochromic transition, whilst the Supernova Siena red lenses switch to a striking gold mirror tint.
The finishing touch is a Strade Bianche logo on the inside of the left arm, providing a memory for those who have spent time in the hills of Siena.
