The ABUS GameChanger 2.0 is a new second generation aero helmet that has been developed in close cooperation with the pro riders of the Movistar Team – with the aim of optimizing and beating the wind.
According to a release from ABUS… ‘The GameChanger 1.0 had raised the demands on an aero helmet to a new level. Through its multi-position design, it was trimmed for maximum aerodynamics and optimal ventilation.
‘Based on the success and performance values of its predecessor, the ABUS developers have now developed a completely new aero helmet with the GameChanger 2.0, which has proven in countless tests that the performance has been improved at the crucial points. These crucial topics are aerodynamics, ventilation, comfort and safety.’
Aerodynamics
To meet aero requirements a high-speeds, the GameChanger 2.0 has a wider Kamm-Tail. This means that the aero profile created by the helmet is 11% longer. Extensive test sessions in the wind tunnel and on the track indicate that, at racing speeds between 46 and 52km/h, the new GameChanger 2.0 provides the rider with an aero advantage due to its adapted aero shape.
The central ‘aeroblade’ in the upper area of the GameChanger 2.0 leads air flow more efficiently from the head with the help of internal ventilation channels through the helmet.
Ventilation
With new, improved aerodynamics, the Airboost front inlet and the new ‘eyebrow vents’ for forehead ventilation direct up to 32% more air inside the helmet and provide a storage option for cycling goggles.
The horizontal struts of the ACTI CAGE direct the airflow specifically into the helmet at higher speeds, aiding ventilation.
Comfort
A new strap system, which is 12mm wide in the rear strap area and has a wider v-shape of the straps, helps with an optimal head position. The central Zoom Pro retention guides both the straps and the adjustment system into an individually optimal position.
Safety
With the GameChanger 2.0, ABUS has deployed the MIPS AIR NODE safety system. All GameChanger 2.0 helmets are QUIN ready, i.e. prepared for the use of QUIN Crash Detection Technology.
A QUIN port for charging the sensor is accessible – in the form of a micro USB port – from inside the helmet.
The GameChanger 2.0 is offered in two versions, a total of 11 different colours and three sizes (S, M, L). The weight of the is 260g (S), 265g (M) and 275g (L).
