UK-based PR and digital agency, The PHA Group has been appointed by Human Race to help raise awareness of the adidas Manchester Marathon.
Founded in 1990, Human Race is a leading mass participation events company in the UK, putting on events each year in triathlon, cycling and running. It is owned by Tour de France organiser A.S.O., which acquired the business in October 2016.
In April 2017, Human Race acquired the Manchester Marathon from Manchester-based Xtra Mile Events, which had previously rebooted the event in 2012 after a decade’s absence.
Next year’s event is set to take place on Sunday, April 14, 2024, with more than 30,000 participants expected from across the UK and beyond – supported by an estimated 125,000 spectators on the streets of Greater Manchester.
The appointment of The PHA Group will see the agency showcase participant stories; highlight the impact the event has on the Greater Manchester community; and drive national and regional engagement with the event on the ground, online and across social media.
Andrew Smith, Human Race CEO, said “The adidas Manchester Marathon is always one of the highlights of the Human Race calendar.
“The atmosphere around the city is unrivalled. We are excited to continue our journey creating a best-in-class experience for our participants and supporters, whilst leaving a positive sporting legacy for everyone in the local community.
“We’re looking forward to working closely with The PHA Group to help drive more engagement with the event than ever before.”
Tom Inskip, Director of Sport and Fitness at The PHA Group, said “It is fantastic to be working with Human Race to help raise nationwide awareness of the adidas Manchester Marathon and to showcase just how friendly, inclusive and diverse the event is.
“Having worked with a number of mass participation events, including our longstanding client, Royal Parks Half Marathon, we’re excited to work on a full marathon for the first time.”
