Loughborough University and Science in Sport confirm partnership

Loughborough University in central England has announced a new partnership with sports nutrition brand, Science in Sport (SiS). The initial three-year deal will see SiS embedded across Loughborough’s sporting ecosystem, helping to fuel the university’s athletes to peak performance across a variety of disciplines.

Renowned as a sporting institution, Loughborough’s alumni include iconic Team GB athletes Seb Coe and Paula Radcliffe, with recent graduates including Lionesses goalkeeper and 2023 UK Sports Personality of the Year, Mary Earps, and extreme sports athlete Ross Edgley.

As part of the relationship, SiS will offer placement opportunities to Loughborough students, as they begin their journey into the sports business sector. Loughborough University’s sport performance programmes will also collaborate with SiS’s research and innovation team and will be amongst the first to try and feedback on newly developed products.

The campus-wide partnership will also see SiS’s nutrition products stocked in retailers on-site across the university, providing students and visitors access to a wide range of energy, hydration, and recovery products.

Rich Ellis, Head of Commercial Partnerships and Sports Facilities at Loughborough University, said “This exciting partnership with SiS will enable us to provide our athletes with the very best nutritional support to reach peak performance.

“We’re incredibly proud to be leading the way for sport in the higher education sector; and working alongside such a well-respected and established brand will only enhance our wider sporting offer.”

Tom Rose, Global Head of Elites at Science in Sport, added “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Loughborough University to provide their athletes with world-class nutritional support and innovation to fuel their training and competition.

“Loughborough is widely regarded as one of the leading universities in the world for performance sport. Having produced countless champions at the very highest level, we’re very excited to be supporting a team of nutritionists in helping develop the next generation of world class athletes.”
