After 113km of racing, on Sunday, June 2, 2024, there was just a hair’s breadth between Spanish athlete Guillem Montiel and Australia’s Kurt McDonald. The two elite athletes delivered a sprint finish that had the spectating crowd on their feet at OTSO Challenge Salou.
Eventually, Montiel was declared the winner by just fractions of a second with both athletes leaving nothing out there to take the win.
Salou’s sun-soaked Spanish holiday town was the backdrop for the OTSO Challenge Salou triathlon, which brought together athletes from 43 nations. With a competitive field of professional and age-group athletes, the race saw Guillem Montiel (ESP) and Aurélia Boulanger (FRA) take home the OTSO Challenge Salou 2024 titles in 3:43:20 and 4:15:22, respectively.
