Giro d’Italia Women by the numbers

The 2024 Giro d’Italia Women, the first organised by RCS Sport, saw Elisa Longo Borghini take the win and seal the end of an eight-day duel over the race’s 876.7km route.

RCS Sport has reported growth in audience figures across the Italian RAI broadcasting networks. When compared with the 2023 edition sees the elite women’s Corsa Rosa increased its audience on both RaiSport HD and Rai2, where on the latter it reported an average of over 660k viewers.

The last two stages, won by Neve Bradbury and Kimberley (Le Court) Pienaar, saw a duel between Longo Borghini and Lotte Kopecky. This reportedly kept 865k viewers in front of their televisions for the Lanciano-Blockhaus stage (with a 7.7% share) and 970k viewers for the Pescara-L’Aquila stage (with an 8.9% share).

The website www.giroditaliawomen.it recorded three million page views and a total of 200,000 unique visitors. On social channels, launched a few months ago, there were 11 million video views, with 33 million impressions, for a total coverage of 20 million unique visitors.

There was also a noticeable increase in media coverage, both in print newspapers newspapers and online outlets. At the eight-stage event there were 156 accredited journalists, representing 109 media outlets.

Online publications were reportedly up 24% when compared to 2023, despite fewer days of racing for the 2024 edition.
