Rule 28, the aero cycle clothing specialist, has released its new Outlier clothing collection alongside the launch of new road cycling and time trials team initiatives.
“The fact that this is our first graphic collection is hugely exciting in and of itself,” said company founder Sam Calder. “But Outlier has grown into more than just a kit – it’s for riders who take their training and racing seriously, regardless of age, ability, or discipline.
“It’s an acknowledgement of the effort and passion the sport inspires, and persisting in spite of the non-linear nature of progress.”
The kit and team launches are seen as a logical follow-on from the brand’s ‘Outliers’ short film series, which introduced some of its sponsored athletes and… ‘detailed the challenges, resilience, and determination entrenched in the pursuit of sporting excellence.’
Rule 28 adds that it will… ‘continue to build the Outlier ecosystem as a home for storytelling and community building, and also continue the expansion of the Outlier athlete programme – having most recently partnered with 2024 National Hill Climb Champion, Harry Macfarlane.’
Outlier aims to cement the brand’s presence in the UK race scene, a natural next step following its recent sponsorship of new team Raptor Factory Racing.
Fans of the Outlier kit will be able to race for themselves in it, joining via the Rule 28 Outliers club through British Cycling or Cycling Time Trials. Rule 28 notes that, somewhat ironically, Outlier will serve to create a collective – a team for individuals who want to race in the fastest kit, outside the confines of a formalised race team.
According to Sam Calder, “Outlier is a home for people who race for the pure enjoyment of it. If you want to race for you on a Tuesday night, race in Outlier.
“There’s no pretentiousness about it, and no pressure. We don’t want riders to feel like they have to do anything, they’re an Outlier because they want to be.”
The Outlier kit comprises bib shorts, short sleeve jerseys, and long sleeve jerseys.
