Following heavy rainfall, USA Triathlon, in partnership with the city of Milwaukee and with local authorities, emergency services, and safety teams, made the decision to cancel the 2025 USA Triathlon Sprint National Championships and Paratriathlon National Championships, that was scheduled for Sunday, August 10.
A release from the national governing body noted that.. ‘Athlete safety is USA Triathlon’s highest priority. USA Triathlon’s events team worked throughout the morning hours with local authorities and our safety teams in an effort to still make today’s events in Milwaukee possible.
‘Unfortunately, due to the historic rainfall in Milwaukee, flooding and course damage throughout the course, limited emergency response teams to support the event, potentially unsafe water conditions, as well as impending weather for Sunday, it would not be possible to safely organize Sunday’s races for the Paratriathlon and Sprint Distance National Championships.’
‘USA Triathlon will communicate further updates to athletes impacted by the event’s cancellation. USA Triathlon sends its support and condolences to all those affected by the historic rain and flooding that has impacted the Milwaukee area.’
