2XU appointed official sponsor of Triathlon NZ

Australian apparel brand, 2XU, has signed as Official Sponsor of Triathlon New Zealand (Tri NZ). The extensive partnership appoints fast growing 2XU with exclusive Official Supplier status of Tri NZ across the four apparel categories of triathlon, compression, wetsuits and casual training. The deal runs for the next three years until October 2011.

As official compression apparel supplier to the New Zealand Academy of Sport and sponsor of numerous annual events including the 2008-09 Stroke & Stride, Wellington’s leading 2008-09 Contact Scorching Triathlon series, the Challenge Wanaka long distance triathlon and MORE FM Tri Woman Series in 2009, 2XU’s Tri NZ sponsorship further illustrates the brand’s rapid ascent in New Zealand. Last month, 2XU also opened the doors of its first New Zealand store in Newmarket, Auckland.

From now until 2011, 2XU endeavours to work closely with Tri NZ to promote active lifestyles through triathlon at all levels. To this end, 2XU will boast a critical presence at Tri NZ’s annual domestic events, including the New Plymouth World Triathlon Festival (incorporating the ITU World Cup), and will provide high performance apparel for the Tri NZ teams competing in the four annual ITU World Championship events being triathlon, long distance triathlon, duathlon and long distance duathlon.

In announcing the partnership, Tri NZ CEO Dave Beeche acknowledged the intense competition in a fast growing and highly specialised market sector. “Tri NZ is fast growing, reflecting the rapid growth in our sport over recent years. It is vital then, that we future proof our sport and the interests of our stakeholders in all of our commercial partnerships.

“Those members and stakeholders can be reassured that in 2XU we have found that partner with world class product, good sense of customer service and a strong presence in the New Zealand market. We are delighted with the partnership and look forward to working closely with 2XU in the best interests of our members.”

To accompany the sponsorship deal, 2XU has also announced an exclusive offer for Tri NZ members. From the date of the deal’s announcement until close of business [two weeks from dispatch of release], Tri NZ members can buy two 2XU triathlon garments from any 2XU Tri stockist across the country and receive 20% off the second garment (to equal or lesser value than the first).
