In 2007, African cellular network and communications company MTN Business sponsored the MTN Corporate Triathlon Challenge for the first time. The event saw 230 teams and 183 individuals battling for top honours. In light of this, MTN Business is back again in 2008, with its sponsorship of the MTN Corporate Triathlon Challenge and as the communications sponsor of the official Ironman South Africa event on 13 April 2008.
The 2008 MTN Corporate Triathlon Challenge takes place at Hobie Beach in Port Elizabeth on Saturday 12 April 2008 – the day prior to the main Ironman event – and enables large and small organisations to battle their clients and competitors. The corporate event covers a distance equivalent to around 10% of the full Ironman distance with a 380m swim, an 18km cycle and a 4.2km run.
