Mizuno has signed a five year sponsorship with organisers of the Vienna City Marathon (VCM), starting with the 25th anniversary of the event in 2008. VCM organiser Wolfgang Konrad said, “It is a great honour for Vienna City Marathon, to have with Mizuno a global playing company, yet from the running country Japan, as our new partner.”
For the Mizuno brand, which is generating strong growth in Europe, Vienna City Marathon represents an important and attractive partner. Yasuhiko Kishimoto, General Manager Mizuno Germany, said that, “Being a global company based in Japan, we are extremely proud of this partnership, which will provide us with the opportunity to showcase our Japanese heritage, our worldwide brand, our technically advanced products and especially our world-renowned Wave technology to over 26.000 race participants.” Under the five year agreement, which runs until 2012, Mizuno is presenting the Wave Rider 11 as the official marathon shoe for the 2008 race.
