ASICS is to open a new, innovative flagship store in London, on Argyll Street, in October 2008. This will be the second key ASICS store worldwide, and the first in Europe, following the launch of the Tokyo store in February 2007.
The concept store will showcase a blend of Japanese minimalism and high technology, created by Tokyo-based designers Formation Inc.
The store will house a number of advanced features. These include two permanent gait assessment areas, plus a new, high-tech 3D foot scan system. This new system employs lasers and in-built cameras to map each foot individually. Foot measurements are then uploaded to a database of foot shapes and sizes, comparison with which provides expert assistance in finding the perfect pair of shoes.
