British cycling transformed

The popularity of cycling as a sport and leisure pursuit has been boosted by better cycles and the success of British athletes, according to UK newspaper The Telegraph. According to the report, most also consider Britain’s success an encouraging sign that ‘clean’ riders are prospering as never before, as the sport weeds out the drug cheats.

The media report highlighted the management skills and ‘genius of cycling supremo’ Dave Brailsford, Performance Director of the GB Cycling Team. Team GB is also supported by forensic psychiatrist Steve Peters and ‘equipment guru’ Chris Boardman, plus Chief Coach Shane Sutton.

The Telegraph notes that there is definitely a ‘boys with toys element to cycling but there is no doubt that having the best bikes – within the International Cycling Union (UCI0 specifications – and most aerodynamic skinsuits, helmets, shoes and most efficient pedals is crucial.’
