2007 saw a further record year from Brooks Sports Inc, which saw overall brand revenue up 17.5% percent to more than US$170 million. Domestic revenue jumped 20% on 2006, while international sales increased by more than 19%.
76% of Brooks’ US domestic business was conducted in the speciality running retail channel, where it claims second place with a 19% share of sales. Domestic sales revenue saw an 18% jump relative to 2006.
Despite challenging economic conditions, Brooks is positive about 2008 and beyond. In 2008, the company is looking to unveil six new shoes, updates to favourite styles, and a highly anticipated foray into kids’ performance footwear. 2008 shall also see Brooks will launch the Trance 8 with BioMoGo, the first biodegradable midsole. BioMoGo breaks down in an enclosed landfill in about 20 years, rather than up to 1,000 years for traditional athletic shoes.
