New kid on the block Qoroz rolled into London with a new range of titanium bikes. Qoroz is the brainchild of Marcus Eales. With years of experience in precision engineering, he has focused on crafting bikes from prized metal, titanium.
The Titanium Development Association calls titanium ‘the material of choice’. Many within the bike industry would agree. A sometimes mysterious, generally expensive metal, titanium has a reputation for light weight, super strength and longevity.
With an all-titanium range, Qoroz claims to have created the ultimate machine for each discipline. The range includes Race Won, Road Won, Mountain Won and Time Won. Citing the virtues of ‘power, passion, design’, the Qoroz.co.uk home page states that: ‘Qoroz bikes haven’t been designed, specified or manufactured as the result of market research or creative fantasies; they haven’t been produced at a price to suit a particular market segment. They have been designed simply to be the best.’
All Qoroz frames come with a life time guarantee. For time trials and triathlon, Qoroz has created the Time Won, with aero shaped tubes and the only frame in the range with a semi-integrated head tube.
Qoroz uses Ti3Al2.5V (Grade 9) across its frames, an alloy sometimes referred to as ‘half 6-4’. With higher strength than commercially pure grades of titanium, it provides more malleability than the Ti6Al4V variant.
Titanium is understood to be the fourth most abundant metallic element on earth, after aluminium, magnesium and iron. In fact, there is more titanium in the earth’s crust than chromium or molybdenum, two of the essential elements that accompany the iron used for steel bike tubing.
